Lab News

July 2026: Trinity presented her research on starlings’ use of bird feeders at Miami’s Eco-REU Symposium. Trinity will keep working on her REU project after she returns from studying abroad in Ecuador this fall. We’re glad this isn’t the end of our time with her!

May 2026: Trinity Kays, a rising senior at Centre College, started research with us this summer as part of Miami’s Ecology REU program. Welcome, Trinity!

January 2026: Bella Riem joined the lab as the first PhD student—welcome, Bella! She completed her B.S. in Zoology with a minor in Cognitive Science from Michigan State in December 2025, and we’re thrilled to have her join us.

August 2025: The lab opened at Miami University. Dr. Hofmeister teaches at the Middletown Regional campus, and conducts research at the Oxford campus (right).

We are always looking for undergraduate students to join the lab! At this time, I am not accepting new MS or PhD students.
